Africa's finest bird artists facilitate identification. Also included are useful colloquial
names in nine other languages, while the interpretation of scientific names (etymology)
makes for fascinating reading.
Whether expert or beginner in the field of birding, this invaluable guide is sure to
maximise your experience in the Kruger National Park.
Hugh Chittenden has over 30 years birding experience in the
region and his ornithological interests have taken him to many
remote places on the African continent and elsewhere in the
world. Hugh has a passion for bird photography and is the author
of Roberts Bird Guide. He is currently Chairman of the John
Voelcker Bird Book Fund.
Ian Whyte spent 37 years living and working in the Kruger National
Park. He has had a lifelong interest in birds and for 14 years he acted
in the capacity of ornithologist in Kruger, though his main function
was as biologist studying large mammals, especially elephants. He
co-authored an earlier (1991) field guide to the birds of Kruger and
has made several other contributions to scientific and popular bird
books and journals. He has now retired and lives in Graskop.
Guy Upfold with his legendary computer expertise was not only
responsible for all plate layout, design and creation of distribution
maps, but his assistance with many other aspects in the
production of this guide has been invaluable. Guy is a
renowned bird photographer and has had many of his
photographs published in popplar works.
